Hi! I’m Ms. Smetzer and I teach the CTE Family and Consumer Science Courses at Dobie! This year we are offering Intro to Culinary, Nutrition & Wellness, and Career Discovery!
Intro to Culinary!
Intro to Culinary is a year-long High School Credit class offered to 8th grade students. Since this class is a high school credit class a semester exam will be given at the end of each semester and you can earn 1 high school credit. Students must also attend 90% of classes to earn High School credit.
We start the first couple of weeks covering kitchen safety. In this class students will be working with sharp cooking utensils as well as hot cooking equipment. To ensure the safety of all students, students are required to pass a safety test with at least a 90% to be able to cook in class. If they do not pass they will be given more chances to retake the test.
